My career transitioned from a decade spent as a mechanic, including time as a diesel mechanic working on heavy equipment in the Gold Mines in Kalgoorlie. By 2012, I was ready for a change from the trades, and a good friend, knowing my love for cars but recognising my desire for something new, suggested I explore the finance industry. He pointed me towards specialising in car loans. Following his advice, I joined ANZ/Esanda in their car loans department, starting in customer service and quickly moving to loan writing, which I really enjoyed. After four years, I moved to a small asset finance company and in 2018, I founded Hamer Finance.

I'm driven by my passion for the automotive industry and my entrepreneurial spirit. It's incredibly fulfilling to merge my enthusiasm for cars with helping others start and grow their businesses, and to provide expert advice on cars and heavy equipment. Every day feels rewarding as I get to use my specialised knowledge to make a positive impact on both individuals and businesses. This blend of personal interests and professional goals has made my career journey particularly satisfying.

Cairo is the most interesting place I've been to, and I've visited three times. Once, I even managed to persuade a security guard to let me climb inside the pyramids—an incredible experience. I'm fascinated by history and the mysteries of what humans can achieve.

My favourite movie is Interstellar. I'm a big fan of Hans Zimmer’s music, and I love anything related to space and science fiction. The themes and visuals in Interstellar are just fascinating!

I'm the operations manager here, and my work covers a lot. I oversee the daily operations of the company and collaborate with all our departments—sales, finance, marketing, admin, and management. What I really love about my role is its diversity and the chance to work with our team, referral partners, and clients.

It was a mix of great timing and a mutual contact that brought me here. Although I had plenty of experience in operations and business development, I was new to the finance industry. The challenge and opportunity to dive into a different field really drew me in.

I'm an early riser, getting a head start on the day helps me stay productive, especially in the mornings. Most of my time is spent on the computer, collaborating with our team, and attending meetings.

I grew up in Oamaru, New Zealand, with an agricultural background. Seeking a change of scenery and the excitement of city life, I moved to Melbourne and began working at ANZ Bank, where I met Will. Will and I quickly developed both a strong working relationship and a close friendship. It felt natural to join him at Hamer Finance, where we’ve worked together to build a high performing team of brokers.

Organised chaos! A typical day at work for me is quite busy. I spend a lot of time on the phone with clients, writing loans, and overseeing the day-to-day deals at Hamer Finance. I also manage our team of brokers, offering guidance and support when they need it, and helping them meet their monthly goals.

I've recently started playing tennis after work and on weekends, and I'm really enjoying it.

Outside of work, I'm passionate about spending time with the close friends I've made here in Melbourne. Moving away from family and childhood friends meant building a new network of people who share similar interests and enjoy activities like camping and watching the footy at the MCG. Also, I can't help but mention that I'm a passionate fan of the Melbourne Demons and Melbourne Storm.

My favourite movies are the Lord of the Rings trilogy. They were filmed entirely in New Zealand over 150 locations on both the North and South Islands, which adds a special connection for me.

I'd love to live in Queenstown for a year. It's famous for its stunning views and local charm, and it's a hub for adventure with mountain trails and hiking peaks. Plus, the food and wine are fantastic. Who wouldn't want to live there?

I started as a real estate agent and auctioneer but was ready for something new. Will, a close friend of mine, talked to me about his job as a finance broker, and it really caught my interest. I realised my skills could be a good fit in finance. A few months later, I became the first employee at Hamer Finance, and I've been here for almost four years.

A typical day at work for me involves spending a lot of time on the phone with clients and referrers, as well as on the computer processing loans. We have a fantastic work culture here, and I truly enjoy the time I spend with my colleagues, whether we're in the office, out for lunch, or at various events.

If you're starting out in this field, my advice would be to focus on being a good listener and remain curious. It's essential to ask questions and really understand what the client needs. People come to us seeking expert advice, and our job is to guide them to the best options for their specific situations. Being attentive and thoughtful in your approach will go a long way in helping you succeed.

If I had to eat one meal every day for the rest of my life, it would be pasta. I absolutely love it. My wife and I visited Italy not too long ago, and I'm looking forward to going back and enjoying even more of it.

The most interesting place I've visited is Greece. I love its history, delicious food, and vibrant culture. It's a beautiful country, and I enjoyed everything about it so much that I would go back in a heartbeat.

I manage the marketing and partnerships here. I love creating engaging content about our diverse services and clients—there's always a new marketing angle to explore. I also enjoy the business development side, where I get to bring new referral partners into the Hamer Finance family. I’m quite the social butterfly, so meeting people from all over this industry is a highlight for me.

I started in the civil engineering sector, managing big bids for road and bridge projects and later engaging with communities and the project team on-site. I loved the hustle and the impact of my work, but after having my two boys, those long days on-site weren’t feasible, and it was time to hang up my work boots! Joining the family business seemed the perfect move to apply my skills and help my husband, Will, expand his marketing ventures and referral partnership hub.

No two days are the same! I could be designing content, writing copy, diving into TikTok to catch up on the latest trends, filming for digital marketing, updating our website and referral hubs, and brainstorming the next big idea in team meetings. It's a dynamic mix that keeps things exciting!

South Africa stands out due to its incredible contrasts—from bustling cities like Johannesburg and Cape Town to vast nature reserves. The rich diversity of the landscape, the people, and the wildlife; the vivid colours of nature and traditional attire; and the fantastic food make it unforgettable.

I’ve always said if I could start over, I'd learn how to pilot a plane. My uncle learnt how to fly and I always thought he was incredibly cool! There's something absolutely mesmerising about aviation, especially watching air force displays at events like the Melbourne F1.
